West Table Boating Site

West Table boat ramp is the busiest boat ramp on the river except for maybe Sheep Gulch boat ramp (at the end of the whitewater section). West Table is where most visitors put-in their boats in order to experience the "Grand Canyon of the Snake" and the entirety of the whitewater section of the Snake River. From June through the end of August, this boat ramp can host up to 20,000 visitors so come prepared for a bustling and crowded boat launch.

This boat ramp hosts an information kiosk building where Forest Service river crew staff are available most days for visitor questions and assistance from June through August. We encourage you to stop by and talk to the rangers (regardless of where you are launching) about current river conditions, water levels, and any other questions you may have. All river crew staff carry radios while working the ramps. If there is a safety issue or you need assistance of some kind, river crew staff are trained to call for emergency help and to provide assistance within their training. Be prepared to be stopped at the information kiosk to wait your turn for the ramp and to provide information to river crew staff for safety and permit reasons.

  • There is no cell service available along the river so be prepared for your river trip as much as possible with proper safety equipment and water.
  • No potable water is available at any of the boat ramps so bring water with you or stop at one of the campgrounds.

West Table boat ramp area has several picnic tables available for your group to utilize. These are located in the first overflow parking area as you enter the main parking/boat ramp area. Please use these picnic tables instead of using the parking lot as high traffic does not always pay attention to running children and dogs, as well as parking spaces are precious to arriving visitors.

A few things we ask you to participate in while using the West Table Boat Ramp:

  • There are several loading or "rigging" areas for launching and taking out near the boat ramp. Please use these courteously and quickly, generally a 15 minute rotation of groups in these areas keeps the boat launch area moving smoothly and keeps all visitors happy.
  • Wait your turn in line. On a busy day, there can be several vehicles with trailers waiting to access the boat ramps. No matter how you want to use the boat ramp, waiting in line will ensure you are not the dunce of the ramp for the day with all other visitors.
  • There are garbage cans provided in the bathrooms and recycling bins next to the bathrooms. Please use these appropriately.
