Grandview Campground

Grandview Campground is nestled along the Mesa Falls Scenic Byway, about 14 miles northeast of Ashton, Idaho, adjacent to the Lower Mesa Falls Overlook. Situated within the Caribou-Targhee National Forest’s Ashton/Island Park Ranger District, this campground rests at an elevation of 6,500 feet, accessible by heading east from Ashton on ID-47, curving north past Warm River, then turning left at the Lower Mesa Falls Overlook.

Natural Features: A forest of lodgepole pine and Douglas-fir cloaks the campground, casting dappled shade over its sites, while the Henrys Fork of the Snake River roars below at the 85-foot Lower Mesa Falls, just steps away. One mile north, the 110-foot Upper Mesa Falls thunders, its mist catching sunlight to form rainbows by mid-morning.

The Mesa Falls Scenic Byway threads through Idaho’s backcountry, offering overlooks and trails for hiking and photography. The river promises blue-ribbon trout fishing, while Harriman State Park—11 miles north—teems with elk, moose, trumpeter swans, and waterfowl amid its wildlife refuge.

Facilities: The campground offers seven single-family sites and two double-family sites, each equipped with picnic tables, campfire rings with grills, and now featuring 15/30/50-amp electric hookups—a recent upgrade for all sites. Vault toilets, drinking water, and trash collection are available, with firewood for purchase from the camp host. Roads and parking spurs are gravel, accommodating RVs up to 65 feet.
