There is a vault restroom near the reservoir north of Forest Road 080. Please see Passes & Permits and Restrictions tab for more information. There are no electricity, water or sewer site hookups at this dispersed camping area.
Natural Features
Big Lake is located in a very scenic large meadow at an elevation of over 9,300 feet. Most dispersed camp sites are found near aspen and conifer trees for shade.
Recreation
Big Lake can be a great fishing opportunity, plus there is wildlife viewing, hiking, hunting, and OHV riding on designated routes. Please pack-out what you pack-in. Camping stay limit is 16 days, 15 nights.
General Information
June - October
- Please refrain from cutting or breaking branches around dispersed campsites. Kindly bring your own firewood to help preserve the natural environment and camping experience.
- Camping stay limit is 16 days, 15 nights. After that you must relocate at least 5 road miles away if you wish to continue camping.
- Camp at least 200 feet from lakes, rivers and streams to protect water quality.
- Follow local fire restrictions and fully extinguish campfires before leaving.
- Pack out all trash and follow leave no trace principles.
- Use designated vault toilet to protect natural environment and wildlife.
- Use existing sites and park only on durable surfaces (not vegetation)
- Avoid creating new trails or campsites
- Store food properly in bear-proof containers.
- Stay on designated roads, and trails as shown on kiosk and designated forest service maps.
- All OHVs are required to be registered and display a permit or sticker for riding on public lands.
- Yield to hikers, horses and non-motorized users.

- Pets must be leashed at all times within this recreation area. This policy is in place to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all visitors and to protect wildlife.
- Clean up dog waste and dispose of it properly.
- Keep dogs from chasing, harassing, and disturbing wildlife, livestock or other visitors
- Yield to other hikers, horses, and other trail users by stepping off the trail and controlling your dog

Directions
Big Lake Dispersed camping is located about 21 miles south and east of Richfield Utah, along the Monroe Mountain Road FR068. From Richfield head east on 300 North (UT-118) 1 mile. Continue straight onto UT-119 east for 4.2 miles. Turn right into Glenwood for 1 mile and turn left at Center Street. Travel east for 0.4 miles where Center Street turns right and becomes Fish Hatchery Road (UT-263). Continue for 3.4 miles and turn left onto Monroe Mountain Road (FR068). Continue on FR068 for 11 miles and turn right onto FR080 for 0.5 miles. See link below for google maps directions.
