Shingle Creek Dispersed Camping
Overview
Shingle Creek dispersed area has several different camping opportunities available, ranging from grassy meadows, areas of mixed sagebrush and pinyon/juniper at lower elevations, and aspen with mixed conifers in the higher elevations. Dispersed camping areas can be found all along Shingle Creek Road (FR-114). Please use extreme caution in this area during adverse weather as the road becomes very slick and travel is not recommended. Camping is limited to 16 days and is open to ATV use. Please stay on designated roads and trails.
Facilities
There are no bathrooms or water provided in this area. Please use existing camp sites and natural rock fire rings within these dispersed areas.
Natural Features
Common vegetation along Shingle Creek consists of cottonwood, oak, pinyon, juniper, aspen, Engleman Spruce, fir, and Ponderosa Pine trees.
Recreation
Popular activities in the area include ATV trails, hiking, horseback riding and stream fishing.
General Information
May - October
- Please refrain from cutting or breaking branches around dispersed campsites. Kindly bring your own firewood from the local area or use dead and down wood to help preserve the natural environment and camping experience.
- Camping stay limit is 16 days, 15 nights. After that you must relocate at least 5 road miles away if you wish to continue camping.
- Camp at least 200 feet from lakes, rivers and streams to protect water quality.
- Follow local fire restrictions and fully extinguish campfires before leaving.
- Pack out all trash and follow Leave No Trace principles.
- Use existing sites and park only on durable surfaces (not vegetation)
- Please avoid creating new trails or campsites
- Store food properly in bear-proof containers.
- Stay on designated roads and trails as shown on Forest Service travel maps.
- All OHVs are required to be registered and must display a permit or sticker for riding on public lands.
- Yield to hikers, horses and other non-motorized users
- Pets must be leashed at all times within this recreation area. This policy is in place to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all visitors and to protect wildlife.
- Clean up dog waste and dispose of it properly.
- Keep dogs from chasing, harassing, and disturbing wildlife, livestock or other visitors.
- Yield to other hikers, horses, and other trail users by stepping off the trail and controlling your dog.

Directions
The Shingle Creek CUA Dispersed camping area is located approximately 35 miles southwest of Richfield, Utah and 30 miles northeast of Beaver, Utah.
From Richfield, travel south on I-70 for approximately 32 miles. Take exit 7 and turn right (east) onto the Clear Creek Canyon Road. Travel approximately 2 miles and turn right (south) onto FR-114. The dispersed camping areas can be found along this road.
From Beaver take I-15 to I-70, turn onto I-70 and proceed to exit 7. Exit the freeway and turn left onto Clear Creek Canyon Road. Travel east for approximately 2 miles, then turn right (south) onto Forest Road #114. The dispersed camping areas can be found along this road.
