Lava Lakes Trailhead
The Lava Lakes Trailhead provides access to the Lava Butte, Lava Butte Lakes, Lava Peak Area, and the nearby trail to Scribner Lake. From the trailhead the Clayburn Creek Trail #505 heads to the west where it intersects with Cirque Basin Tail #506. By taking trail #506 you will reach Lava Butte Lakes where the trail intersects with the Lava Ridge Trail #149 (Lava Ridge Trail #149 originates at the Big Dave Creek Trailhead). You can choose to not take trail #506, and continue on trail #505 to the west where it too intersects with the Lava Ridge Tail #149. To the east of the trailhead, Elk Meadow Trail #500 crosses the Center Ridge at Jenkins Crossing to Bear Pete Mountain via the North Creek Trail #145 in the Burgdorf/French Creek Recreation Area, or once crossing Jenkins Crossing, to North Fork Meadows to the south via the French Creek Trail #116 in the McCall Recreation Area.
Other trails in this area are: Scribner Lake Trail #168; Scribner Ridge Trail #501; north end of Center Ridge Trail #504 from North Fork Meadow in the McCall Recreation Area; north end of the Little French Creek Trail #348 from Fisher Creek Saddle originating from the end of FS Road #281; south end of Elkhorn Creek Trail #115 from Elkhorn Creek Road #309 on the Main Salmon River Recreation Area. The north end the Center Ridge Trail #504 intersects with the Scribner Ridge Trail #501 and heads south to North Fork Meadow.

From McCall travel 5 miles north on Hwy 55 to Goose Lake Road/Forest Road #257. Travel north on Goose Lake Road/Forest Road #257, then 3.5 miles past Hazard Campground, then turn right on Forest Road #50308. Travel approximately 8.5 miles to the trailhead.
