Boundary Creek Campground Complex

Boundary Creek Campground is located within the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness, adjacent to the boat launch for the Middle Fork of the Salmon River in Idaho. It has 15 units containing fire rings, picnic tables, and parking spurs. There is a comfort station and drinking water available at four hydrants throughout the campground. Generally, the site provides overnight camping for boaters awaiting the next days launch on the Middle Fork of the Salmon River.  Five units are now reservable through Recreation.gov.

Fish Your National Forests: This site can be accessed by Passenger Car; Fish available include: Trout, Native Trout.

Five sites can be reserved for June 15-August 15. Other sites are first come, first served.

General Information

Fifteen camp units serve mostly as the pre-launch overnight stay for boaters preparing for the Middle Fork of the Salmon River. Each campsite is equipped with picnic table and firering with tent sites among the lodgepole pine trees. The campground amenities include piped drinking water and vault toilets. There is no garbage service. 

Not maintained in the fall; water turned off. Road closed by snow in the winter; melts open mid-May to mid-June.

Permits are required to float the river.
The following passes are good for 50% reduction in camping fees: SENIOR PASS – Available for $10.00 to US Citizens 62 years and older.  Must be purchased in person with proof of age such as driver’s license. ACCESS PASS – Available FREE of charge to US citizens that have been medically determined to have a permanent disability that severely limits one or more major life activities.  Must be maintained in person with written proof of disability. 

$10/Night for single unit is charged for overnight use.

Directions

Boundary Creek is accessed by dirt road from Idaho State Highway 21, and is often closed by snowdrifts until late May or early June. The turn-off to Boundary Creek is located 23 miles west of Stanley or 107 miles east of Boise between mileposts 109 and 110. This road is commonly referred to as the Bear Valley Road. The road is rough and narrow; your vehicle and/or trailer should be prepared for 25 miles (approx. 40 minutes) of single-lane dirt road.
