Digital Forest Visitor Maps
The easiest way to access Forest Visitor Maps while out and about on the forest is through the Avenza Maps application, which is available for iOS and Android devices through the App Store and Google Play, respectively. Avenza Maps works with downloaded maps by using a device’s built-in GPS to track the device's location and show the device's location relative to the map. While a wi-fi or cell service connection is required to download maps, a connection is not required to use the maps, even in the most remote places. Using the Avenza Maps app with Forest Visitor Maps and Motor Vehicle Use Maps takes the guess work out of keeping visitors on the appropriate course while traveling on national forests.
The Sawtooth National Forest offers four digital Forest Visitor Maps available for purchase through the Avenza Maps app or online through the Avenza Maps Store:
- Fairfield and Ketchum Ranger Districts
- Sawtooth National Recreation Area
- Minidoka Ranger District (East)
- Minidoka Ranger District (West)
