The following acts are prohibited on the areas described below on the Salt Lake Ranger District, Wasatch-Cache National Forest.

CAMPING/CAMP FIRE RESTRICTIONS
SPECIAL ORDER OF FOREST SUPERVISOR
WASATCH-CACHE NATIONAL FOREST
SALT LAKE RANGER DISTRICT
High numbers of visitors camping and using campfires along National Forest Roads in the canyon areas of the Salt Lake Ranger District have resulted in the deterioration of water quality, loss of vegetation, accumulations of litter, unsightly fire scars, erosion, trampled areas along streams and roadways, and the increased risk of wildfire.
This order is for the purpose of (1) eliminating campfires and camping along roadways in the affected area, and (2) providing consistency between Federal and Salt Lake County watershed regulations.
Pursuant to 36 CFR 261.50 (a) and (b), the following acts are prohibited on the areas described below. All lands affected are located on the Salt Lake Ranger District, Wasatch-Cache National Forest. This order is in effect until further notice.
- Building, maintaining, attending, or using a fire, or campfire within 1/2 mile of any road. [36 CFR 261.52 (a)]
- Camping within 1/2 mile of any road. [36 CFR 261.58 (e)]
Pursuant to 36 CFR 261.50 (e), the following acts, or persons, are exempt from this order:
- Persons with a permit or contract authorizing the otherwise prohibited act.
- Authorized Federal, state, or local officers, or members of an organized rescue or firefighting force in the performance of official duty, when authorized by the District Ranger.
- Persons occupying designated, developed recreation sites.
Area Described: Within 1/2 mile of all roads in Mill Creek Canyon; and 1/2 mile of all roads in the Salt Lake County Watershed in Little Cottonwood, Big Cottonwood, Emigration and Parleys Canyons, including Lamb's Canyon.

Violation of this prohibition is punishable by fine of not more than $5,000 or imprisonment of not more than 6 months or both (16 USC 551; 18 USC 357l(b)(6).
This order supersedes any previous orders/notices for the above described areas, and same said violation(s).
