The Schedule of Proposed Actions (SOPA) contains a list of proposed
actions for Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest that will soon begin or are currently undergoing environmental
analysis and documentation. It provides information so that you can become
aware of and indicate your interest in specific proposals. We encourage your
early and ongoing involvement in any proposals of interest to you.
The Forest Service is proposing to sell about 4.26 acres of vacant land southeast of the intersection of 6200 South and 3000 East in Holladay. The Forest decided that the 6200 South Administrative Site was excess to its needs and could be sold.
Proposal to reroute and construct approximately eighty feet of the Adams Canyon Trail in Layton, UT. Work will include clearing vegetation, removing rocks, digging tread, and restoring the short segment of old trail that will no longer be needed.
Upper Albion Baasin homeowners have submitted a request for a special use permit to allow motorized access (over the snow) to their homes during the mid day. This activity is proposed within a pemitted ski area (Alta)
The SLRD, with Alta Ski Area and the CCF, is proposing to reroute 2 trails in Albion Basin. The 2 reroutes seek to improve legal access, sustainability, & safety for FS Trails: the Albion Meadows & Devils Castle Loop Trail
Proposal to realign the Albion Meadow Trail and the Alf's Connector Trail; to create the Top Sunnyside connector trail; and to fully restore the existing trails that will be closed when these trails are opened.
The Salt Lake Ranger District is proposing to construct a short road spur in upper Little Cottonwood Canyon between Albion Basin Road campground entrance and Cecret Lake Trailhead parking lot to serve as a traffic turnaround.
Alta has proposed to expand the Albion Day Lodge to the east of the existing building. Up to a three-story building is being contemplated. Alta and its architect will work with the USFS and Town of Alta in the design of the building.
Alta Ski Area proposes to remove the Albion Chairlift. The Albion lift is a fixed grip, center pole chairlift that was installed in 1976. It is rarely operated and maintained only to provide capacity if the Sunnyside lift breaks down.
Proposal to reroute the Albion Meadows trail from private property onto Forest Service lands. The rerouted section would be approximately 0.33 miles long and three feet wide. The old trail would be scarified and revegetated using native plants.
Proposal to build three trails totaling 0.74 miles and restore damaged areas at Alta Ski Area. Locations include Catherine's Pass, Sunnyside to Cecret Lake, and Home Run.
Proposal to install a fiber optic telecommunications cable and facilities to upgrade services to the Towns of Mountain Green, Huntsville, Eden and Liberty. Cable will be buried adjacent to existing roads and streets. Total NFS ROW is 5500 ft by 25 ft
The Forest Service proposes to authorize Allwest Communications to upgrade an existing 525-foot section of copper line with 96-strand fiber optic line. The upgraded line would be installed along the existing copper line, which runs along Highway 150.
Relocate the Ski School Conveyor and construct a new conveyor to provide access to better beginner/learning terrain at Albion Base and reduce snowmaking requirements. Reroute hiking trail, remove old conveyor base, and reclaim disturbed areas (.75ac)
The proposed action is to construct a 10,000-square-foot equipment storage building northwest of the existing vehicle maintenance building along the northern edge of the Albion parking lot to increase on-mountain storage.
Alta is proposing to widen the Corkscrew and address erosion issues in Nina%u2019s Curve ski runs, consistent with their goal of maintaining two summer groomed runs top to bottom off each detachable lift to provide reasonable low snow skiing.
Alta Ski Area, in Little Cottonwood Canyon, submitted an updated Master Development Plan (MDP), and is proposing to implement specific projects from the MDP within their existing permit boundary.
Create a bench access road from the Collins service road to the top of the Race Course ski run, terminating near the winch post. This bench will allow snowcats to access and groom the Race Course ski run when needed to disperse the density of skiers.
Alta Ski Area has requested to amend its special use permit to mitigate the avalanche potential and include the area on NFS lands outside of its permitted ski area boundary that affect the Ski Resort.
Alta Ski Area, in Little Cottonwood Canyon, is proposing to implement the Big Grizzly lift upgrade to a handle tow lift within their existing permit boundary.
Alta is proposing to install and operate (under a communications use lease) a Distributed Antenna System (DAS) comprised of seven cellular nodes and accompanying fiber optic cable within its permitted boundary.
The Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest is proposing to authorize Alta Ski Area to modify the existing garbage collection area and install a modern garbage collection system.
The Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest is proposing to authorize snowmaking improvements on Little Dipper and Rollercoaster ski runs. The improvements are anticipated to increase efficiency and decrease maintenance of the system.
Alta is proposing three small projects for completion during the summer of 2012: 1) Request for a snowmaking strainer system building; 2) Request for Little Griz Conveyor upgrade; & 3) Watson Sewer Line Repair
Alta is proposing to improve their snowmaking system by finishing it as a loop and to add a spur that would allow them to make snow on the Sugarbowl run off the top of Sugarloaf. The total disturbance area would be approximately 2.6 acres.
The Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest is proposing to authorize Alta Ski Area to replace an aging water storage tank and collection system with a modern collection system and underground tank.
Alta Ski area is proposing to redevelop a spring collect system to meet state standards and modify approx. 100 feet of trail at Windy point to improve skier circulation
The proposed action is to restore wetland areas at 6 sites at Alta Ski Resort. This project is part of the wetland mitigation required by the Army Corps of Engineers for wetland impacts that resulted from the Albion Parking Lot expansion.
Alta Ski Lifts is proposing to install five additional burried snowmaking hydrants on an existing line on the Home Run ski run and install a loading conveyor belt on the bottom terminal of the Supreme lift
This project involves the removal of two antiquated chair lifts at Alta Ski Area: Cecret and Supreme. The resort is requesting authorization to remove the previously mentioned lift and replace them with one new lift.
Alta proposes adjusting an existing service road to create a more functional route that bypasses the concentration of cabins in the Albion Alps subdivision. The route adjustment would be made on NFS land and Alta's private property.
Proposed Action is to create benched trails along Catherines Traverse, Thirds Traverse, and High Traverse for better snow retention, maintenance, terrain access, and snowcat access to So Long ski run affecting 1.6 acres
Proposal by Davis county amateur radio emergency services to install a self-supporting antenna radio tower that will be 30 feet in height and will support three antennas.
Proposal to improve fiber optic and cellular network in AF Canyon by installing approximately 6.4 miles of new conduit along SR-92 and SR-144, approximately 28 (35-foot tall) cellular antenna nodes, and a structure to house wireless comm equipment.
Proposal from American Fork City to authorize the rehabilitation of a spring collection system and the replacement of certain City-owned culinary water pipelines on Forest Service management lands in American Fork Canyon.
Reroute the Mill Canyon, Tibble Fork and Mud Spring trails in the Tibble Fork system. Parts of these motorized trails are eroding and impacting wetlands, and are slick and pose safety hazards to users when wet. Problem segments will be rerouted.
The UWC proposes to complete fuels reduction and vegetation treatments in the Anadarko project area to reduce fuel loading and better meet desired future conditions. Riparian and stream channel restoration would also occur.
Proposal to construct a 16 x 26 foot addition to an existing recreational residence in the Christmas Meadows Summer Home Area and move an existing storage shed to the southeast of an existing outhouse.
Project would extend Bonneville Shoreline Trail roughly one quarter of a mile east into Big Cottonwood Canyon, to use Dogwood Picnic Area as a trailhead. The Decision Notice from 2010 identified Oakridge as the trailhead.
Sage-grouse brood-rearing habitat enhancement, including Dixie harrow and mowing to reduce sagebrush density and improve forb cover and diversity. The project would improve approximately 1500 acres over a several year period.
The Baer Gutsman mountain running race permitee is requesting the re-issuance of their 5-year recreation event special use permit for the annual race in Baer Canyon in Davis County, Ut.
Proposal from the West Corrine Water Company to replace the existing deteriorating pipeline and prevent pollution from entering the system at the springs by providing collection boxes in Baker Canyon.
Modify the old Ballroom access road to a constant design grade of 7.7% to eliminate the need for skiers to check their speed and better manage snow cover on the traverse. Modification would be completed by cut and fill.
The pipeline originally fed the campground and a livestock watering trough. The trough was cutoff from the pipeline a few year back. A new pipeline will be installed to the trough from the spring with a separate intake than the recreation line.
Proposal from Castle Rock Land and Livestock, to reconstruct a water transmission line in Barlow Canyon. Activities include trenching and installing two new HDPE water transmission lines, a 12 inch irrigation pipeline and a 3 inch stock water line.
Use prescribed fire and mechanical treatment (Bullhog/masticator) to treat 30-60 percent of the oak/maple community to restore age class diversity, structural diversity and understory diversity. Close and reseed roads.
Replacing and realigning portions of the Battle Creek Canyon culinary water pipeline to decrease the risk of contamination. Approximately 12.0 acres of the Mt. Timpanogos inventoried roadless area would be affected.
Proposal to issue a 5-year special use permit, authorizing the Bear 100 race and associated race support. Racers would use Forest Service designated roads and trails. The permit would include an alternate race course route for bad weather.
This is a continuation of an existing special uses permit for a competitive race that has been in place for approximately 25 years. It takes place on designated trails and roads over the course of 2 days on the last Friday/Saturday of September.
Proposal to construct 0.5 miles of fence off the Strawberry Knoll of the Bear Hole allotment to decrease the chance of livestock drifting off their permitted area.
Proposal to groom non-motorized snow trails with a snowmobile. Grooming will occur on designated winter trails during low use times. Parking will occur at the Bear Lake Overlook and Limber Pine Trailhead.
State of Utah, Division of Water Resources proposes to drill 2 exploratory test holes with piezometer on Temple Fork Road to gather geotechnical information related to a potential dam site. Holes will be sealed after 1 year of data collection.
Proposal by Evanston-Mountain View, Heber-Kamas, and Logan ranger districts to: (1) install beaver deceivers and pond levelers; (2) install Beaver Dam Analogues; (3) trap and translocate nuisance beavers from human conflict areas.
Proposal is to authorize a special use permit for installation of a water system (pump station and waterline) for the privately-owned Bel Mia Girl's Camp.
Proposed project would issue an SUP to construct a 4,000 ft pipeline connection to the existing waste water collection system at the FS Box Elder Campground, connecting to the wastewater collection and treatment system operated by Brigham City
Benchland is proposing to construct a 20 acre-foot open top concrete storage reservoir with associated water lines on NFS land, located generally east of the right-of-way for the Weber Basin Water Conservancy Districts aqueduct
Proposal to pipe stock water to the Ault BLM pasture. The proposed pipeline will be approximately 1.75 miles long and will be attached to an existing stock water pipeline from the Vernon Reservoir.
Treat approximately 1000 acres of sagebrush with a Dixie Harrow - Obliterate 1 mile of non-system roads and trails and seed these with native grasses and forbs.
Authorize current livestock grazing management on the Bennion Allotment. The Bennion Allotment includes what used to be known as the Bennion Allotment and part of what used to be the Dunbar Allotment.
Proposal to issue a special use permit to the Pinetree community for additional development of a spring to provide an adequate water source to the community.
Proposal from Rocky Mountain Power (RMP), to reconstruct and relocate portions of the main electric transmission line in Big Cottonwood Canyon. The project will mitigate wildfire hazards posed by the current transmission line.
The proposal is to treat about 4,000 acres within the 17,000 acre Big Creek watershed to implement the Revised Forest Plan and move towards properly functioning conditions across the landscape.
Proposal to construct a connector trail from the Lower Big Water lot in Millcreek Canyon to the overflow parking lot. The proposal is intended to improve public safety by removing the need for users to walk the road.
Create openings in the oak/maple canopy with a bullhog/masticator or similar. Remove invading juniper trees. Create age, structural age class, and understory diversity; reduce fuel loadings; and close and reseed roads. Gate Road 116 for seasonal use.
The cabin on lot #8 of the Birch Glen tract was demolished in 2017 due to the extremely poor condition of the cabin. The owner of the demolished cabin has proposed to build a new cabin at the same site. Lot is located in an RHCA.
Harvest approx 53 acres of dead standing trees greater than 8 inches dbh. Cut trees would be skid to landing areas and hauled to a nearby mill. No temp road is expected, although some renovation of about 0.35 miles of an admin FS Rd would be required
Proposal to use a combination of mechanical treatments on approximately 75 acres of mountain big sagebrush. Note: Name changed from East Fork Blacks Fork Sagebrush Treatment to more accurately reflect location.
The Evanston/Mountain View Ranger District proposes to treat about 3,000 acres of a variety of vegetation types within the 39,760 acre Blacks Fork project area. Proposed treatments include timber harvest, prescribed fire, and mechanical thinning.
Proposal is to plant sagebrush and bitterbrush seedlings on south and west-facing slopes in the Blacksmith Fork area on the Logan Ranger District to improve winter wildlife habitats. The area to be treated includes about 1,800 acres.
Cache County and the City of Hyrum have proposed the creation of a trail which follows the corridor of a buried waterline. Approximately 1.2 miles of this proposed trail runs across National Forest System lands.
Reduce undesirable impacts to vegetation by: installing a horse corral near Bluff Spring; add a trail connecting Bluff Springs Road to Bluff Spring system trail; add trail connecting Bluff Springs Road (#20738) from the Bluff Springs Trail dead end.
Davis County, in coordination with the U.S. Forest Service, is proposing to construct and reconstruct the Bonneville Shoreline Trail. The complete trail would be approximately 39 miles long and would include trailheads.
The Ogden Ranger District proposes to construct approximately five miles of non-motorized trail along the bench above North Ogden City as a continuation of the Bonneville Shoreline Trail.
To construct and use approximately 24 miles of trail along the Lake Bonneville shoreline in Salt Lake County, approximately 8 miles of trail on National Forest System lands
Project would improve Columbia Spotted Frog Habitat on three ponds the Heber-Kamas Ranger District by improving pond and riparian habitat at Boulder Creek above Highway 150.
Proposal to upgrade the deteriorating Bountiful City water treatment plant and associated infrastructure and connect it to the existing sewer located at the top of Muller Park day use site area.
Mill Creek Water Division Facility Reconstruction - Bountiful City is proposing to reconstruct their existing water diversion facility with a similar but slightly smaller structure.
The Bountiful Lions Gun Range is operated by the Bountiful Lions Club of Bountiful, and operates under a special use permit, originally issued in 1959, that will expire at the end of 2013. The Gun Club has submitted an application to renew the permit
Proposed project would treat up to 36008 acres using hand and mechanical treatments and prescribed burning to reduce accumulated fuels, improve stand conditions, and improve wildlife habitat. Up to 201 acres of roadless would cut/pile/burned.
Syringa Networks has applied for a permit for a fiber optic cable on approx. one mile of FS land along Highway 89/91 through Box Elder Canyon. Cable would be installed underground along the shoulder of the road on the north side of the highway.
Brigham City Archery Club desires to renew its SUP for operation of an archery range on National Forest. There would be no changes to authorized facilities or increases in the scope or intensity of authorized activities.
Brighton Properties needs to amend their permit to replace an existing 2 inch diameter steel water transmission line with 3 inch diameter HDPE pipe, from the spring box to their water storage tank.Total length is about 2400 feet.
Install a new six-passenger chondola from the base area to the Snake Creek Lodge and develop an additional beginner area with two teaching carpets and re-grading a steep portion of the Scout trail.
Brighton is proposing to install 138 light poles to light an additional 45 acres of existing terrain primarily served by Milly Express, allowing the resort to operate an additional lift during evening hours. Ground disturbance would be up to 1 acre
Brighton would like to extend a line down the run to a drainage channel in order to make snow in this area and drain the system. Total length of the extension is approximately 1,000.
Brighton Ski Resort is proposing to extend its snowmaking system above Twin Lakes to the top of the Millicent lift and realign its approved alignment from the parking lot to its pumphouse in the Majestic area, all within its permitted area boundary
Big Cottonwood Improvement District proposes an addition to the existing Brighton area sewer system. The addition is needed for compliance with Salt Lake Valley Health Department watershed requirements.
The new owners are proposing an addition to the existing cabin structure. The proposed construction will occur within an area that has been previously disturbed with an existing 1,000 square foot concrete patio and retaining wall.
Proposal is to authorize grazing on 3 sheep allotments (Buck Springs, Pete's Hollow, and North Monte) using Forest Plan standards and guidelines to manage use.
Snowbasin Resort has proposed to install snowmaking equipment along the Boardwalk route between Bullwinkle run and the top of wildcat. The site will be accessed by existing roads and all materials will be transported via that road system.
Bountiful City proposes to bury 850 feet of fiber line along north side of an existing access road to a buried
reservoir to improve culinary water system operations.
Project proposed to improve communication services in the Silver Lake Area of Big Cottonwood Canyon via buried fiber lines under Nordic Trail Lane and to the south of the Visitor Center parking lot for a total of 300 linear feet.
Interstate Irrigation and Reservoir Company has proposed reconstruction of a stream diversion on Burnt Fork of Henrys Fork River, which currently divers irrigation water into an unnamed ditch. The new diversion will include a fish screen.
The Evanston-Mountain View and Flaming Gorge Ranger Districts are proposing to authorize continued grazing on the Burnt Fork Cattle and Horse (C&H), Beaver Creek C&H, and Hickerson Park Allotments.
Landscape scale (70,772 acres) proposal for reducing hazardous fuel loads and regenerating aspen in conifer-encroached stands through prescribed burn, lop and scatter, and cut and pile.
The Heber-Kamas Ranger District proposes to create a Class 4 trail around Butterfly Lake. A portion of the proposed trail would be built on existing user-created trails, while a portion would involve new trail construction.
The proposal is to authorize improvements into the cabin. Improvements include construction of a deck that will be approximately 340 sq. ft. and placement of a 500 gal. propane tank. Proposal follows the U-W-C NF Recreation Residence guidelines.
Remove large rocks and rock outcroppings at the entrance to the Devils Playground and reduce the grade of the terrain to improve intermediate skier access and safety, particularly during storm periods or periods of flat light.
Proposal is to renew the expired special use permit for the Cache Valley Archery Club Target Range. The archery/target range consists of 20 acres and includes an archery course, parking, a small building, a picnic area, and bulletin board.
Proposal to amend a previous decision regarding the Cardiff trail to include a pedestrian bridge to allow users to cross Big Cottonwood Creek. Proposed pedestrian bridge would be installed parallel to and upstream from the vehicle bridge.
Proposal from American Water Operations & Maintenance, LLC to drill a replacement groundwater well to replace the existing well at the Carter Creek Campground.
Proposal to remove accumulated sediments from pool areas at Cascade Springs. Proposal is intended to increase available fish habitat complexity and boost carrying capacity of the springs. Sediment will be removed through use of a suction pump.
Proposal to remove the old toilet at Cascade Springs and replace with a new CXT double vault toilet. Project is intended to upgrade and improve facilities at the Cascade Springs parking area to better support increased use.
The Big Springs Phase 2 Waterline range improvement will connect to Phase 1 (decision memo signed in June 2020) and continue poly pipe for approximately 2.5 miles. Four troughs will be installed along with two, 5,000 gallon water storage tanks.
Proposal by Club Rec to install a walking path at Pineview Reservoir from the gravel parking area to entrance of building for public use. Path will be dug out and cement will be poured.
The U-W-C NF is working to consolidate all permits previously issued to Century Link (Qwest) into one permit per Ranger District. There are three such lines on the Logan RD; one in Logan Canyon and two in Mantua. All lines are existing.

Proposal from CenturyLink to amend their existing special use authorization in order to install new fiber optic conduit from a junction box along Big Cottonwood Canyon Road up the Cardiff Fork Road (019) to service residences within Cardiff Fork.
Wire fencing separating Chicken Creek and Mud Flat pasture on the Logan Canyon Grazing Allotment is located in a wet area. 3/4 mile of fence would be removed. A new fence would be constructed approx. 1/4 mile uphill in relatively dry, flat terrain.
Proposal to build a new parking lot with a boat ramp near Chicken Creek East. A restroom will be constructed and the two East/West Chicken Creek Day Use areas will be removed and revegetated.
Bridger Valley Electrical Company plans to replace a buried electrical line through the Christmas Meadows summer home tract. The new line would be buried 30 to 36 inches deep in an existing roadbed. Equipment would be confined to an existing road.
the SLRD is proposing to construct belay platforms that are anchored by barrier rock and/or gabion baskets and to improve the access trails that lead to two climbing areas in Big Cottonwood Canyon - Dogwood and the Pile.
ASL proposes completing the Corkscrew project (original decision signed in 2014) and improving an additional intermediate exit by combining Nina's Curve and Schuss Gully into one run.
Brighton proposes to replace Crest Express with a new lift constructed in essentially the same alignment. The new lift would be an efficient Doppelmayr D-line six-passenger detachable chairlift.
Proposal is to re-issue a special use permit to the Nordic United Ski Club for a 10-mile cross-country ski race in the vicinity of the Bunchgrass yurt. Due to the steepness of the terrain, approximately 20 participants are expected.
The Heber-Kamas District is planning to construct a 1.0-mile fence on the south side of the Currant Creek Developed Campground to prevent permitted cattle on the Currant Creek livestock allotment from entering the developed campground.
Proposal to construct approximately 500 feet of lay-down fence that can be stood up during the separation process to help hold the cattle and reduce the need for running horses across the hillside.
Proposal to relocate a fence to a more suitable location.Approximately 0.4 miles of existing fence would be removed, and 0.3 miles of fence would be constructed.
Proposal would treat approximately 600 acres of sagebrush in the Dairy Ridge area to restore and sustain the structural mosaic of age class diversity in sagebrush communities
The Bureau of Reclamation has prepared an EA to analyze the impacts of the Davis Aqueduct Parallel Pipeline Project and requested easement. The USFS is a cooperating agency. The EA can be found at: https://www.usbr.gov/uc/DocLibrary/ea.html#EA2020
Proposal from Division of Wildlife Resources to revegetate burn areas from the Francis, Snoqualmie, and Gun Range Fires in 2019. DWR will work with dedicated hunters and sportsman group volunteers to plant native plant seeds.
Proposal to construct two new sections of trail to replace two problematic sections. New trail segments will be designed with grade reversals, drainage dips, and drains to shed water and prevent erosion.
The SFRD is proposing to re-issue a special use authorization for a 354 kV power transmission line, known as the Upalco to Mona Transmission line. Permit would be re-issued for 40-years.
The SLRD is proposing to reroute a short section of the Desolation trail (#019) in Big Cottonwood Canyon. The proposed reroute is just east of the junction of the Mill D to Dog Lake and Mill D to Desolation trails on the Mill D - Deso Lake Trail.
The SLRD is proposing to reroute a steep and eroded section (approx. 2,500 %u2018) of trail in Big Cottonwood Canyon from the Mill D trail (#1158), below Dog Lake, to the Desolation trail (#1159).
Proposal to replace and relocate the double vault wood toilet located at the trail head to the Devils Kitchen Overlook. Replacement toilet will be located to the west of current toilet.
The town of Deweyville is proposing heaving maintenance and rehabilitation of the Coldwater Canyon Spring No. 1 complex which is a culinary water source. The proposal will address: collection pipes, a central collection manhole, liner construction

Forest Service alongside Utah Division of Wildlife Resources propose to restore shrublands burned by wildfire in crucial winter range in the Diamond Fork area via scalping, seeding, and shrub planting to promote healthy big game habitat.
USFS proposal to use prescribed fire to remove dead vegetation, reduce fuel loading, promote vegetation growth (both upland and riparian), and improve the Ute Ladies Tresses population by reducing competition for resources with other plants.
USFS proposal to replace existing wooden vault toilet at the guard station with a new single seat toilet. This project is a pre-requisite to putting the Diamond Fork guard station into the rental system.
USFS proposal to relocate the current fence across the river into Hollows Pasture to eliminate damage by cattle to fences at group sites. Fence on the south side of the creek will be removed. Cattle in Diamond Fork Pasture will have access to water.

Proposal is to construct about 200 feet of non-motorized trail and a foot bridge on the south side of the highway in lower Logan Canyon to connect Logan City's Gateway Trail to the Riverside Trail (#603) located on the National Forest.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is proposing to install long-term weather monitoring equipment near the Bear River Ranger Station.
The NRCS proposes to install a SNOTEL site at the existing Mill Creek snow course. The site would be 150sqft with a 20 ft meteorological tower, precipitation can, snow pillow, precipitation gage, and electronics shelter.
Construct cattle corrals that are approximately 30 by 30 feet of steel panels. The purpose of the corral is to hold cattle at the site until they can be trailered off the Forest.
Proposal to put native fish (Bonneville Cutthroat trout) back into Nebo Creek before non-native fish swim upstream into this area. UDWR would install a fish barrier to prevent fish from swimming over or through it.

The Ogden Ranger District proposes to expand the parking area at Pelican Beach on the east side of Pineview Reservoir. The proposed expansion is in response to an increase in recreation demand for the Pelican Beach area.

Utah Climate Center operates a weather sensor tower in Peter Sinks. The proposal is to install an additional tower nearby to facilitate transmitting signals to Logan Peak for real time monitoring of winter conditions.

The Logan Ranger District proposes to relocate a 1.2 mile stretch of Saddle Creek Road, located within the riparian area and stream channel of Saddle Creek, onto a bench 0.1 miles to the west of its current location.
1100 ac of sagebrush will be treated mechanically (600ac) and with prescribed fire (500ac); to create patchy and diverse habitats, only 20 to 30% of the mechanical areas will be treated and low intensity fire will be used in the burn areas.
The Proposal is to use prescribed fire and and mechanical treatment to treat about 1000 acres consisting mostly of sagebrush. The purpose of the project is to increase wildlife habitat diversity in sagebrush communities.

Alta Ski Lifts proposed to install a series of avalanche snow fences above the Devil's Castle Road within the ski area permit boundary. The two fences would be installed in avalanche start zones providing safety to the public and ski area employees.

The UWCNF proposes to authorize a 2-dimensional seismic acquisition project consisting of 103.9 linear miles of source/receiving lines and 53 helicopter landing zone areas. Data gathered by the project would refine knowledge of subsurface geology.

The project will encompass 4.7 miles of river, and a variety of fixes will be done like: removal of old non-functioning structures, addition of more suitable bank stabilization structures, sloping and stabilization of banks and re-vegetation.
In coordination with UDWR, restore natural channel, improve fish migration, stabilize banks, and re-establish riparian vegetation. Rock and log vanes, root wads, and other structures will be used to create a properly functioning river system.
Proposal would place large rocks along the existing rock reinforcement structure to further stabilize the deteriorating streambank. Rocks will be placed during low water among existing rock and vegetation.
Alta proposes to construct a new ski patrol building approximately 90 feet North of the existing structure, and to use the existing structure for storage. The footprint of the new building would not exceed 750 square ft.

The project targets crucial elk winter range within 2,500 acres of Temple Fork Canyon. The proposal involves removing (hand cutting and scattering) invading juniper trees to maintain and enhance sagebrush, meadow, and aspen habitats.

Proposal from Union Telephone Company to install buried conduit for telecommunication cables (fiber optic) connecting existing infrastructure in Summit County, Utah. Cables will be installed in the UDOT ROW and NFS lands.
The purpose of this project is to understand the stratigraphic distribution, paleocommunity structure, taphonomy, and geochemistry of Burgess Shale-type fossils within the Spence Shale (Wellsville Mountains). Specimens will be collected for analysis.
Most of the channel realignment project is on private land, but the upper approximate 100 feet lies on the USFS. Realignment of this upper section is necessary to achieve the alignment that will make the rest of the channel system properly function.

The Foothills Abandoned Mine Reclamation project plans to close hazardous abandoned mine openings in Weber, Morgan, Davis, and Salt Lake Counties. A total of 21 mine openings were identified as open and needing closure to protect public safety.

Brighton Properties/Silver Lake Estates #1 subdivision is proposing toreplace an existing 2 inch dia. galvanized steel water transmission line that supplies water from an existing spring box, to their 150,000 gal buried concrete storage tank.
Proposal to relocate the existing handling facility. The current corral is hard to access with trucks hauling trailers. Relocating the handling facility would allow permittees better access to the corral.

Treat the streams in the West Fork Smiths Fork drainage including some waters within the High Uintas Wilderness with piscicide (rotenone) to remove nonnative fish species and enhance habitat for native Colorado River cutthroat trout.
Project consists of 1,640 acres of one way chain treatment and seeding. Seeding will occur first and the one way chaining will help bury the seed and provide a better seed to soil contact.

These two universities have operated on the UWC in the past, without proper authorization. The special uses team has been working with all local universities to get the proper permits in place.
The Forest Service proposes to permit Ogden City to replace a diversion structure located on Wheeler Creek which provides municipal water to the city of Ogden.
Project includes trail maintenance and reconstruction, foot bridge replacement(s), and a shaded fuel break along trails in the Wheeler Creek drainage for fire protection and to reduce erosion and improve watershed conditions.
The project would restore stream and riparian areas by extending and constructing a pipeline to draw livestock away from sensitive areas. Project would not alter or cancel existing rights or authorizations.
To issue a special use permit for a site lease to Sanpete County Broadcasting Corporation for the White Pine Ridge Communication Site, located on the Nebo Division.
The SLRD is proposing to remove and revegetate the existing paved access trail (approx. 200 ft.) from the White Pine Parking lot to the Little Cottonwood Creek Bridge and construct a new access trail at a sustainable grade.
This project will help to reduce hazardous fuels around USFS & private land boundaries as well as travel corridors in the Whiting Canyon area. It will also help to improve mule deer winter range and reduce tree canopy crown fire potential.
Proposal to demolish the pavilion and restore the site to native wetland. This would address public safety and environmental concerns associated with the site and remove it as an attractant for deviant behavior, thus improving watershed conditions.
The Forest Service proposes to improve existing allotment infrastructure by constructing 17 new ponds (each up to 0.1 acre) on the 13,650 acre project area within the Whitney Area on the Evanston Mountain-View Ranger District.

Snowbird proposes to replace and realign Wilbere lift. The proposed lift would be a fixed-grip, top drive quad approximately 2,500 feet in length with a vertical rise of approximately 750 feet.
The Forest Service proposes to treat 238 acres of dead lodgepole pine around goshawk nests to hasten regrowth of trees. Dead pine would be lopped and scattered by hand with chainsaws. No live trees would be cut. No soil disturbance would occur.
Proposal to increase parking to accommodate more visitors while working with UDOT to prohibit parking along the highway and install a double restroom for use at the trailhead.
