Causey Reservoir

Causey Reservoir Causey Reservoir is located 15 miles northeast of Ogden, just off SR-39. Visitors enjoy recreational activities such as swimming, kayaking, paddleboarding, fishing, and even spear fishing. Dogs are also welcome, as long as they are on a leash.

General Information

Projects are planned for Causey Reservoir that will improve the recreation experience for visitors. The projects are scheduled for late 2025 to early 2026 and would require approximately 12 months for completion. The Federal Highways Administration is planning a complete overhaul of the roads around Causey Reservoir, including reconstruction of the Wheat Grass Canyon Road. Two parking lots will be constructed to address existing parking issues. An emergency boat ramp will be installed near Skull Crack parking area for emergency rescue boats. This will also improve accessibility to visitors with paddleboards, kayaks, and canoes. The boat ramp will not allow motorized boats to enter the reservoir. Increased use of the area has spurred this development and the need to protect natural resources. Causey Reservoir reaches and often exceeds capacity every weekend, primarily due to parking issues. A visitor use fee will be implemented by the Forest Service after the projects are completed for maintenance of the facilities. Please contact the Ogden Ranger District for any questions regarding the Causey Reservoir Project

The Reservoir is a non-motorized boating zone in accordance with Utah State Law and requires the use of Coast Guard approved life jackets per Weber County Municipal Code. Fireworks and alcoholic beverages are also prohibited according to Forest Service Order 04-19-526.

Dogs must be leashed at all times.

Please pick up after your pet, dispose of waste appropriately.
