Highline Trail #105

Length 96 Miles, Elevation: 8,200-12,700ft


The Highline trail traverses the Uinta Range from west to east. This trail is in the High Uinta Wilderness. Most of the trail is above 10000 feet. Beginning from the Highline Trailhead on Mirror Lake Highway (Highway 150) travel over many rocky passes before terminating at the Highline Trailhead on Highway 191. It is also popular to start at Highway 191 and end at Mirror Lake Highway. A shorter option is to begin or end at Chepeta Lake on the eastern side. The trail number changes to #025 when on the Ashley National Forest.
The Highline is the main east-west trail traversing the High Uintas. Between the Highline Trailhead at Hayden Pass to East Park Reservoir on the Ashley National Forest, the trail stretches nearly 100 miles.

Trail Grade: Trail grade ranges from 5 to 30 percent

Trail Considerations: Trail is in a Wilderness area. Please follow Wilderness rules and regulations. ALL FIRES ARE PROHIBITED WITHIN NATURALIST BASIN (Blue Lake, Morat Lake, Le Conte Lake, Shaler Lake and Jordan Lake). GAS STOVES WILL BE NECESSARY FOR COOKING. Camp at least 200 feet from the edge of all lakes. Also, camp out of sight and sound of trails, streams and other campers.

Stream crossings can be very hazardous during periods of rain and high water.

Directions

Follow Mirror Lake Highway (HWY 150) east out of Kamas for 34.5 miles. Park at Highline trailhead.
