Timpanogos Summit Trail #054
From Emerald Lake to Summit
The Timpanogos summit trail connects to both the Timpooneke trail #053 and the Mount Timpanogos trail #052 and climbs to the summit of Mount Timpanogos. Be aware of uneven terrain, steep cliffs, and exposed cliff bands along the 2.2-mile trail.
The Timpanogos Summit Trail begins 300 yards west of Emerald Lake where Aspen Grove and Timpooneke Trails join. The Summit Trail proceeds across a large rocky slope at an easy grade but then becomes steeper on the many switchbacks up to the summit house where spectacular views can be seen in every direction.

Trail Considerations: Trail users should be aware of the high level of use that this trail receives, and should expect to see each type of user group on any given day. This is one of the most used trails on the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache NF and as such Saturdays and holidays can be prohibitively busy. Users are encouraged to use this trail on weekdays and Sundays if possible. As this hike does enter the Mount Timpanogos Wilderness area, keep group sizes fewer than 15 people.
For further information about the Mount Timpanogos Wilderness and Leave No Trace, please go to http://www.wilderness.net/ and Search Mount Timpanogos.
Wilderness Considerations: No campfires are allowed in Timpanogos Wilderness. As with any Wilderness trails, please be prepared for trails that have received little to no maintenance; have a map and compass and know how to use them, and have the ability to be self-sufficient as these are truly some of the remotest areas in the Wasatch Mountains. Extreme caution should be used around any steep snow field, snow with water moving underneath, waterfalls, and/or cliffs.
