San Gabriel Canyon Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) Area
The San Gabriel Canyon Off-Highway Vehicle Area (OHV) (brochure) is located 11 miles north of Azusa, CA, on Highway 39. Over 160 acres of rocky, sandy river bottom await users of 2-, 3-, and 4-wheeled OHVs. Reservations are required through Recreation.gov.

There are two different types of tickets available--primary vehicles and secondary vehicles. A primary vehicle is any vehicle driven into the OHV area under its own power. A secondary vehicle is any vehicle trailered or hauled into the OHV area by a primary vehicle. Secondary vehicle tickets are only valid when purchased in conjunction with a primary vehicle ticket.
Tickets may be purchased until 3 p.m. on the day of reservation. - If you do not have a reservation, you will be denied entry.
- Please print or screenshot your QR code on your cell phone after ticket purchase and before you leave home. This will help expedite your entry into the OHV area. There is no cell or Internet service available at the San Gabriel Canyon OHV Area.
- The San Gabriel Canyon OHV area boundaries have changed temporarily due to a sediment removal project at the adjacent dam. See this map showing the current boundaries.
- This area is currently open to high-clearance vehicles only due to recent changes to the stream crossing conditions.
- The Rincon/Shortcut OHV Route is temporarily CLOSED due to debris slides from the Bobcat Fire.

General Information
The OHV and obstacle course area is open Saturdays, Sundays, and most major holidays (New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, and Labor Day) at 8 a.m.
ALL VISITORS MUST EXIT THE OHV PARKING LOT AREA BY 4:30 p.m. Special closures may occur for unusually high water, wildfire, capacity crowds, or limited staffing levels.
Adventure/Interagency passes are available for purchase at the OHV for parking in San Gabriel Canyon.
Reservations are required for the San Gabriel Canyon OHV Area.
- All vehicles are subject to search prior to entry.
- The possession of alcoholic beverages is prohibited at all times.
- All ATVs and motorcycles must be equipped with approved spark arresters, properly installed and maintained.
- Approved muffler systems are required on all motorized vehicles.
- All vehicles must be currently registered: green or red stickers (seasonally) for off-highway vehicles; regular state registration is required for street-legal 4 wheel drive vehicles.
- Obey the 15 mph speed law when driving in the Staging Area and parking lot, or within 50 feet of any person or property.
- The discharge of firearms or fireworks is prohibited at all times.
- All vehicles must exit the area by posted hours.
- The state Vehicle Code applies and is enforced.
- Vehicles and swimming are not allowed in the San Gabriel Reservoir.
