Wentworth Springs Campground

Wentworth Springs Campground Recreation Opportunity Guide (ROG) - This guide contains information, maps, and directions to assist you in enjoying your trip to the Eldorado National Forest.
 

Reservations

General Information

  • CAUTION: There are bears in the area. Please keep all foods, soaps, and garbage properly stored in bear boxes.
  • Check ahead. Campfires may not be allowed during fire restrictions.
  • The road going into the campground is rough. 4WD vehicles are recommended. 2WD pickups  can make it provided they have ample ground clearance.
  • Because of the remote location of the campground, emergency medical aid is not readily available. A well stocked first aid kit is a necessity.
  • Trail Users ‐ Please obtain and carry a WAG bag (human waste disposal bag) available at sporting goods stores and at Crystal Information station.
  • WAG bag disposal box provided for responsible and proper disposal along the trail to the Rubicon.

Check in: 2:00 p.m.; Check-out: 1:00 p.m.

Campfire permit may be required.

  • Check out time is 1:00 p.m.
  • Camping Fires: Please use the grill or fire ring provided. Make sure your fire is dead out before leaving, using only water, not soil. Use only dead and down wood for your campfires.
  • Maximum Stay Limit: 14 days per district per year.
  • No garbage service. Pack It In, Pack It Out. 

No fees are required for this site

23 miles east of Placerville on Highway 50 and 24 miles north on Ice House Road (Forest Road 3) , 5 miles north on Forest Road 33, 1.5 miles east on Forest Road 14N07, and 3 miles east on Forest Road 14N34.

  • Single units are limited to 2 vehicle and 6 people per site.
  • Vehicle = Any equipment that is required to be licensed/registered. Includes RVs, trailers, cars/ trucks, boat/car trailer, motorcycle/ATV, etc. Vehicles parked in a truck or on a trailer are not counted separately.

Potable water is not available at this site.

  • There is no piped water at the campground. Water from the river is available but should be boiled before using. Water quality testing is not performed on open water sources.
