General Information
- CAUTION: There are bears in the area. Please keep all foods, soaps, and garbage properly stored in bear boxes.
- Restroom cleaning is provided mid-May to mid-November. No garbage service in winter. Pack it In, Pack it Out.
- Check ahead. Campfires may not be allowed during fire restrictions.
June - October
Check in time is 2:00 p.m. Check out time is 1:00 p.m.
Interagency Senior and Access passes are accepted for single family units.
- Check out time is 1:00 p.m.
- Camping Fires: Please use the grill or fire ring provided. Make sure your fire is dead out before leaving, using only water, not soil. Use only dead and down wood for your campfires.
- Maximum Stay Limit: 14 days per district per year.
- Vehicles with an OffâHighway Vehicle license âgreen or red stickerâ are not legal on campground roads. These vehicles must be trailered to staging areas and authorized routes.

38 miles east of Jackson on Highway 88, 8.5 miles south on Forest Road 92 (Ellis Road), and 3 miles east on Forest Road 8N50 (Salt Springs Road).

- There is no piped water at the campground. Water from the river is available but should be boiled before using. Water quality testing is not performed on open water sources.

- Car top boat launching available at Salt Springs Reservoir. Access to the water is difficult. Boating is hazardous when windy (usually in the afternoons).
- Hiking in Mokelumne Wilderness (permit required for overnight use, year round). Permits available at Carson Pass Information Station (summer only) and the Amador Ranger Station. The trailhead is at Salt Springs Reservoir.
