The Big Valley Ranger District, located in the Modoc Plateau of northeastern California, is one of the last unspoiled treasures of the state. With its stunning high desert landscapes and majestic ponderosa pine and white fir, the area invites adventure. Elevations range from 4,200 feet at the District Office in Adin to over 7,000 feet in the surrounding mountains.
This district features one of the last three sustained yield timber units in the nation, offering unique habitats and diverse recreational activities. Renowned for its hunting and fishing opportunities, it is also a haven for hundreds of bird species migrating along the Pacific Flyway, celebrating the beauty of nature.
