Fisherman's Group Campground

This group campground consists of 4 separate group sites. Access is by hiking in a 2.5 mile trail to the campground. There is no vehicle access to the campground. Tent camping for groups up to 8 people per site.

Designated parking area capacity - 8 vehicles, display reservation confirmation on vehicle windshield at the designated parking area. Horses are permitted, however no corrals or water are available.

Campers MUST call the Big Bear Discovery Center at 909-382-2790 for the latest fire-related information. There are no hook-ups of any kind at this campground. Please bring garbage bags. One bear proof trash container is provided at the facility. Activities include birdwatching, hiking, hunting, photography and fishing is available within 10 miles. Amenities include fire rings, parking, picnic tables, and a vault toilet.

Call (877) 444-6777 or visit www.recreation.gov.  Reservations can be made as early as 12 months in advance.

General Information

Reservations can be placed as late as 24 hours in advance based upon availability. For example, reservations could be made on a Thursday before 2pm, for a Friday 2pm check in, if there is availability.

Directions

From Running Springs:  Travel east on State Highway 18 and turn left on Green Valley Lake Road.   Turn left on Forest Road 3N16 towards the Crab Flats Campground.  

Travel North on Forest Road 3N16 for 4.2 miles.

3N16 to Crab Flats Campground is well maintained during Summer months, however the road can have significant snow during Winter and early Spring.

At the junction of 3N16 and 3N34, continue straight towards the Crab Flats Campground, just past the campground, the road will veer west and road conditions may be rough.   (Note: 3N34 is an authorized OHV route - watch for motorcycles and ATV's).

Travel for one mile past Crab Flats Campground, you also will pass the Tent Peg Group Campground.

The trailhead is a large dirt parking area on your left.  The trailhead is across the road to your right.  The trailhead on the west end of the parking lot heads to Deep Creek and Fisherman's Group Camp.

The walk-in is 2.5 miles in to Fisherman's Group Campground.
