Highland Creek Trail (Silver Valley Trailhead)

The Highland Creek Trail (20E04) runs from the Silver Valley Trailhead at Lake Alpine to the Highland Creek Trailhead at Highland Lakes. It intersects with several trails along its route: from the Silver Valley Trailhead, the Emigrant Trail (19E01) at .2 miles; the Duck Lake Bypass Trail on the left (20E04A to Rock Lake) at .7 miles; and the Elephant Rock Trail (18E20) on the right at 1.3 miles. From there it turns to the left (east) and runs along the south side of the Duck Lake for .6 miles to the south end of the Duck Lake Bypass trail. From there the trail continues east and then south for 2.7 miles to the Rock Lake Trail (18E215) at Rock Lake and another 1.2 miles to the Mud Lake Trail (18E05A).  From there it turns briefly south and then northeast for 3.9 miles to the Bull Run Creek Trail (19E43) at the northeast end of Spicer Reservoir, 2.8 miles to the Weiser Creek Trail (19E41) at Hiram Meadow, and 4.7 miles to the Highland Creek Trailhead.

Most of the trail is within the Carson-Iceberg Wilderness.

General Information

wilderness permit is required for overnight visits to the Carson-Iceberg Wilderness.
