Yocum Lake

Yocum Lake is 41.7 acre, 60’ deep lake with peaceful, tranquil views and great fishing opportunities. Sightings of Red-tailed hawks, turtles, and snails are common.

History:
Yocum Lake dervies its name from Shorty Yocum, a member of a hunting party, who after pushing his way through the brush fell into the lake. It became well known in the early 1900's as a family picnic and boating area. Some of the old wooden boats can still be seen resting on the bottom of the lake.

Current Conditions
Yocum Lake has noxious weeds that easily spread if carried on boats or boat trailers to other lakes. Eurasian milfoil is found around the boat ramp, so extra care needs to be taken to remove vegetation off boats. These plants can choke out native species and make swimming and boating difficult.

General Information

Yocum Lake Road (county road) comes in from the south. Access to the south end of the lake is not available until the end of May due to road protection efforts by Simpson Lumber company and closes November 1 every year due to moisture and road conditions. FSR 1900640 is a short portion of FS road that connects from Yocum Lake (county road) just southwest of the lake.

There are two, small, dispersed campsites located on the west and north end of the lake. These are available by walking approximately a half-mile from the south end of the lake. There is a small, gravel boat launch off the county road on the south end of the lake.
