Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail - Diamond Peak
This section of the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail is between Emigrant Pass (Summit Lake Campground) and Willamette Pass, and passes through the Diamond Peak Wilderness.
The trail goes around the east base of Diamond Peak (elevation 8744 ft) near timberline (about 7100 ft).

General Information
Wilderness Permits are required for both day use and overnight stays from June 15 through October 15. Free permits are self-issued at the trailhead.
- Visitors with a long-distance hiking permit issued from the Pacific Crest Trail Association for hikes greater than 500 miles do not need a Central Cascades Wilderness Permit. Check Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail #2000 for long-distance hiking permits, conditions and closures.
- Wilderness restrictions apply
- Motorized and mechanical equipment (including bicycles and drones) are prohibited in the wilderness.
- Groups must be under 12 people and 12 head of stock.
- Campfires are prohibited above 6,000 ft. in the Diamond Peak Wilderness (5,700 ft. in other Wilderness areas within the Deschutes National Forest).
- Build campfires at least 100 feet away from water.
- Pack in / Pack out!
- “Take only pictures, leave only footprints”—please refrain from cutting, damaging or gathering vegetation or other forest items, i.e. rocks, etc.
- Please bury human waste 6-8” deep and at least 200’ away from water.

Directions
Emigrant Pass trailhead near Summit Lake:
From Crescent, OR travel about 12 miles west on County Road 61, then 3.5 miles north on Highway 58, then 7 miles west on Forest Road 60, continue west on Forest Road 6010 for 6.5 miles to Summit Lake and Emigrant Pass trailhead.
Willamette Pass trailhead access:
From Eugene, OR travel 70 miles east on Highway 58 to Willamette Pass. Pacific Crest Trail access is on the southwest side of the road near Odell Lake.
