Trail #29 Placid Lake
This Trail Open to Hiker and Equestrian Use.
This heavily used trail begins on the northwest side of Indian Heaven Wilderness. Placid Lake, meadows, wildflowers, and a small lake are features along this trail.
This heavily used trail begins on the northwest side of Indian Heaven Wilderness. It travels southeast through large timber. Just before Placid Lake (4,042 feet elevation), the trail enters the wilderness and continues for 0.5 mile before intersecting with the Chenamus Lake Trail #29A. Chenamus Lake Trail proceeds part way around the lake, then climbs south to the shallow, 4-acre Chenamus Lake (4,245' elevation).
Placid Lake Trail continues up the west slopes of Bird Mountain to a high meadow, where it ends on the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail #2000.

General Information
Low elevation trails typically melt out by mid-May. High elevation trails typically melt out by mid-July. Snow may persist in spots on north facing slopes. There may be downed trees, washouts, and/or landslides on trails. Carrying mosquito repellent is advisable. Backcountry creeks and streams may dry out so plan ahead in case you need to bring in water. Recreating in burned areas poses greater risks. See safety tips for burned areas. Wilderness Permit Required. Permits are free and self-issued at trailhead.

Directions
From Carson, WA take Wind River Road/Forest Road 30 north for about 31 miles. Then turn right onto the 420 spur road and follow for about a mile to Placid Lake Trailhead.
Trail can be accessed from Forest Road 30-420 or Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail #2000.
