Heather Lake Trail 701

Begin hiking in young forest and climb gently up to a shelf where a glacier-carved lake lies beneath the cliffs of Mt. Pilchuck. The lake is in a subalpine forest meadow setting and is quite popular all months of the year. It can be quite crowded on summer weekends. The rocky shore on the south side of the lake offers the best opportunity for fishing, wildflowers and berry picking.

A 0.7-mile trail has been built around the lake. Please stay on trails and use only established picnic or camp sites. Opportunities for camping are limited in this small and fragile lake basin. A back country box toilet is available. Please use “Leave No Trace” practices.
