Red Mountain Trail 651

This seldom-used trail within Glacier Peak Wilderness leads through an old-growth forest with magnificent, large trees to the site of an old fire lookout build in the 1930s. Some of the firs in the deep forest on both sides of the trail measure six-feet thick at their base. The former lookout site has excellent views of the Pride Basin glaciers and land to the south. The trail ends at a rock outcropping a short distance beyond the former lookout site.
