Eightmile Campground & Day Use

Upper Eightmile Campground is located near the 44 Trail System (Forest Road 44), which is a popular multi-use trail system. Campers have access to Eightmile Loop Trail #496 from the campground. The approximately 6-mile loop is a popular hiking and mountain biking loop. The Eightmile Loop Trail, along with other trails in the area, is maintained with the help of our partner, 44 Trails Association.

  • Camping: 50% discount for single site camping with any of these passes: Interagency Senior, Interagency Access, Golden Age or Golden Access.
  • Day use: Annual Northwest Forest Passes are accepted as a form of fee payment.

Additional Vehicle Fee: $10 per night

Directions

From Dufur, OR –  Follow Dufur Valley Road until you reach the forest boundary in which the road turns into Forest Road 44.  Continue on FR44 and turn right onto FR 4430.  The campground is on the right hand side of FR 4430.  (Total distance: 17.5 miles)

From Hood River, OR - Go ~25 miles on OR Hwy 35 south.  Turn left onto Forest Road 44 and go ~10 miles.  Turn left onto Forest Road 4430.  Campground is on the right hand side of FR 4430.

From Portland, OR – Go 41 miles on US Hwy 26 East and merge onto Highway 25 North.  Continue approximately 13 miles on OR Hwy 35 and then turn right onto Forest Road 44.  Go approximately 10 miles and then turn left onto FR 4430.  Campground on the right hand side of FR 4430.
