Mt. Defiance South Trailhead

No amenities. Trailhead is a pullout along the road that will accommodate 4 to 5 vehicles. Road to trailhead is rough and dusty. 

Provides access to: Mt. Defiance Trail #413, Bear Lake Trail 413A, Wyeth Trail #411. These trails access Mark O. Hatfield Wilderness.

Directions

From Hood River, OR travel south on Oregon Highway 281/Dee Highway (it goes past the Hood River airport) approximately 11 miles to Lost Lake Road at Dee. Take the right fork here and cross the East Fork of the Hood River. Turn right again and go 1.2 miles up Punchbowl Road until it crosses the West Fork of the Hood River. The road becomes Dead Point Road (Forest Road 2820) here. Follow Dead Point Road approximately10 miles to a wide spot on the south side of the road where cars can be parallel parked.
