Top Spur Trailhead
Trails accessed via Top Spur Trailhead are within the west side of the Mount Hood Wilderness from the Lolo Pass area. Top Spur Trailhead is a popular trailhead, accessing several trails known for scenic views. Hikers can connect to the Timberline Trail, providing outstanding views of Mt. Hood.
Capacity for around 10 medium-sized vehicles.
Provides access to:
- Top Spur Trail #785
- Timberline Trail #600 (connects from Top Spur Trail)
- Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail #2000 (connects from Top Spur Trail)
Amenities: Picnic table; toilet; interpretive sign; garbage can. Maintained May 1 - October 31.
General Information
Free, self-issued wilderness permits are required at this trailhead between May 15 and October 15 and will be provided at a portal.
Recreation Passes required as a form of fee payment.
Wildernesss restrictions apply in Mount Hood Wilderness. Please practice leave no trace principles - pack out everything you packed in!

Directions
From Sandy- Take U.S. Hwy 26 17.5 miles east and turn left at E Lolo Pass Road (Forest Road 18) and travel 4 miles. Turn right at Forest Road 1825 and travel 0.7 mile. Continue straight onto Forest Road 1828 for 5.6 miles beyond turnoff to Riley Campground and Lost Creek Campground. Keep right at the fork and continue onto graveled Forest Road 1828-118. Drive 1.6 miles to the trailhead on your right.
