Monument Creek Trailhead

Provides access to Monument Creek Trail #484 which accesses the Pasayten Wilderness.

Trail beyond Eureka Creek has not been maintained for over 25 years. Impassable to stock and difficult for hikers.

  • Wilderness permit required: To enter the Pasayten Wilderness, visitors need to fill out a free permit at the trailhead.
  • Wilderness regulations apply when entering the Pasayten Wilderness.

Directions

From Winthrop, drive 14 miles west on Highway 20, turn right onto Lost River Road (county road #9140). Follow Lost River Road through Mazama to the end of the paved road at 7.5 miles. The road becomes gravel on Harts Pass Forest Service Road 5400, 22 miles northwest of Winthrop. Travel about 0.25 mile, turn right into Monument Trailhead.
