Colonel Bob Trail #851

This trail is located within Colonel Bob Wilderness in a setting of dense old-growth conifer forest with lush understory of rain forest vegetation. Panoramic view of Quinault Lake from summit of Colonel Bob.

The Colonel Bob Trail gains over 4,200 feet in 7.2 miles to the summit of Colonel Bob. The Mulkey Trail Shelter is reached in 4.0 miles. There is limited camping space at Mulkey Shelter and Moonshine Flats. The junction with the Pete's Creek Trail #858 is at 5.5 miles. The trail ends at the summit of Colonel Bob.

This trail provides an excellent opportunity to view the Olympic temperate rain forest including old-growth stands of Douglas-Fir, Sitka Spruce, Western Hemlock and Western Red Cedar.

General Information

Not suitable for stock. This trail is arduous. Hikers should anticipate several blow downs and brush blocking sections of the trail. 

Wilderness regulations apply.  Stock are prohibited beyond Moonshine Flats.
