Umpqua Beach #2 Day Use /OHV Staging Area

Located south of Winchester Bay, Oregon this area is home to the tallest sand dunes in the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area. Umpqua Beach #2 Day Use and OHV Staging Area provides parking and access for pedestrian beach access as well as off-highway vehicle (OHV) staging for open sand riding opportunities in the Umpqua dunes. A ride to the top of a tall dune offers spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean. The beach provides miles of walking and is closed to OHV travel year-round.

Staging area is open daily from 6 am - 10 pm

State of Oregon OHV Permit required 
Recreation Passes may be used as a form of fee payment.

  • Alcohol ban in OHV riding areas
  • Beach is closed to OHV travel all year

Day use fee:
$5 per vehicle per day

Cash is not accepted at this location. Visitors can pay with a credit or debit card via the automated fee machine at Umpqua Beach #3.

A variety of recreation passes will fulfill the day use fee. The Northwest Forest Pass, Oregon Pacific Coast Passport, digital day use pass, and interagency annual passes are valid at this location. 

Within developed recreation sites, dogs must be on a leash no longer than 6 feet, or otherwise under physical restrictive control. 36 CFR 261.16(j)

Umpqua Beach #2 Day Use / OHV Staging Area is located on Salmon Harbor Drive near Winchester Bay, OR. 

From Highway 101 at Winchester Bay, turn west at Salmon Harbor Drive and follow it 2.85 miles to the facility, which will be on your right.
