Turpentine Trail #3490

From junction with Duffy Lake Trail #3427 this trail heads north through young forest into B & B Fire of 2003. Trail has heavy tree regrowth. Trail line was lost and later reestablished though it continues to need maintenance to keep users on the correct route.Trail was burned heavily in the 2003 B&B Fire. The former route was lost through visitor use and became excessively steep and degraded. Trail continues to need maintenance to keep people on the correct route.

General Information

$5/vehicle/day or a valid recreation pass. No payment accepted onsite.

If enter from Pine Ridge trailhead: There are two types of entry permits required between June 15 and October 15. Check out Recreation.gov for more information or call 1-877-444-6777.

  • Overnight Use
  • Day Use
    • Free, self-issue Wilderness Permit (available at the trailhead) between June 15 and October 15.

If entering from Duffy Lake trailhead: Central Cascades Wilderness Permits are required between June 15 and October 15 for both day and overnight use at this trailhead.

Directions

From Detroit, Oregon, follow Highway 22 east for 26 miles to Twin Meadows Road (Forest Road 2261) there is a sign for Camp Pioneer at this junction, turn left onto Forest Road 2261 and travel 5.5 miles, you pass the entrance gate for Camp Pioneer Boy Scout Camp on your left, the trailhead is just past that gate.
