Whitewater Trailhead

Trailhead provides access for:

  • Whitewater Trail #3429 which enters Mount Jefferson Wilderness
  • Triangulation Trail #3373
  • Triangulation Peak Trail #3374
  • Cheat Creek Trail #3441
  • Crag Trail #3364
  • Pacific Crest Trail #2000
Current Conditions
This is in an area impacted by the Beachie Creek and Lionshead Fire. Recent wildfires on the Willamette have increased likelihood of landslides, mudslides, flash floods, and debris flows. For current conditions, please contact the local ranger station. Forest Service roads are not maintained for snow and ice.

Reservations

General Information

Central Cascades Wilderness Permits are required between June 15 and October 15 for both day and overnight use at this trailhead. Check out Recreation.gov for more information or call 1-877-444-6777. 
A valid recreation pass may be used as a form of fee payment.

Within developed recreation sites, dogs must be on a leash no longer than 6 feet, or otherwise under physical restrictive control. 36 CFR 261.16(j)

Directions

From Detroit, OR travel southeast on ​North Santiam Highway for about 10 miles then go left on Forest Road 2243 (Whitewater Road) and travel about 7.5 miles to the trailhead and parking area.
