Morganton Point Recreation Area

Morganton Point Recreation Area is the only developed campground located on the shoreline of Blue Ridge Lake, a 3,290 acre Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) reservoir, near the town of Blue Ridge, GA. Morganton Point offers a wide arrange of recreation opportunities such as camping, picnicking, hiking, boating, skiing and fishing. The lake is open to motor boats and jet skis, as well as non-motorized watercraft.
 

The campground offers campsites available for tent and RV camping. Several walk-in sites are for tents only. Some sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Each site is equipped with tables and campfire rings with grills. Accessible showers and drinking water are also provided. Beach access includes a designated swimming area, picnic tables, outdoor showers and trash collection bins.

Reservations

Reservations are required to camp in this campground. Reservations can be made through the National Recreation Reservation Service (NRRS). The website (www.Recreation.gov) offers convenient round the clock access to the Online Reservation Service or visitors may call NRRS at 1-877-444-6777 (toll free) between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 a.m. Eastern Standard Time.

You may reserve camp sites the same day as you arrive and as far as six (6) months in advance. However, reservations cannot be made on-site. Please book them online or via the NRRS phone number.

General Information

Fishing in the 3,290-acre lake is a popular activity for visitors to the Morganton Point Campground. Anglers can expect to catch a variety of bass and other fish. Visitors are encouraged to check with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources for a complete listing of freshwater fishing regulations for Lake Blue Ridge.

Day-use hiking trails, including one that parallels the lakeshore, are ideal for short, relaxing strolls through the forest. The Appalachian and Benton MacKave trails pass through Fannin County and are easily accessed near the campground.

Yearlong

Open 24 hours a day. Quiet hours 10pm – 7am.  

Georgia fishing license, valid boating registration. 
The Interagency Senior and Access Passes and the Golden Age and Access Passports are accepted. These passes entitle the pass holder to a 50% discount for single family campsites (excluding hook-ups) and some day use fees. Click here for detailed information on passes!

Contact the campground at 706-374-1645 for information regarding a $50 for up to four people for a year FIND Annual Pass for Swimming, Day Use areas and boat launches at concession areas.

  • No alcoholic beverages in Campground and Day Use Areas
  • 14 day stay limit.
  • 2 vehicles per campsite, except for group sites (#9, #13) four vehicles are allowed. Boat trailers and self propelled campers count as a vehicle. All guest or visitors must park in day use area and pay parking fee.
  • Dogs must be leashed at all times.

Getting There

Directions

From Blue Ridge, GA take US 515 north for 4 miles to GA Hwy. 60; turn right and go 0.5 miles to stop sign. Turn left, go 1.5 miles to the town of Morganton, GA. In Morganton, turn right on Lake Drive for 1 mile.
 

Parking

Day-use visitors should park at either the swim beach or the picnic area lots. Campers with a reservation are allowed a maximum of two vehicles per site. First-come first-serve campers should park in the lot adjacent to those sites.
