Fanny Bay Trail

This 1.1-mile roundtrip trail ventures near towering cypress trees, barking frogs and iridescent dragonflies. At the far end is a boardwalk that winds through the swamp forest of Fanny Bay beneath ancient cypresses. The boardwalk and interesting interpretive information make this a fun hike for all ages!

Hiking

• If you’re driving along I-10 from Jacksonville to Lake City and want to take a break by taking a hike, this interpretive trail in the Osceola National Forest provides an interesting spot to stretch your legs – the trailhead is at the Sanderson Rest Area westbound.
• This walk boasts colorful and detailed signage to orient you to the habitats of the forest, including the pine woods, seepage bogs, floodplain forest and cypress domes.
• Visitors can access the Fanny Bay Trail from the I-10 Rest Area when traveling west on the interstate or from Forest Service Road 267 East. Both are ideal locations to jump onto this easy-to-hike trail.

• The Fanny Bay Trail is a quick trail that offers the chance to see wildlife. The trail is good for all skill levels and primarily used for birding.
