Cedar Creek Rifle Range

This rifle range accommodates targets at 25, 50, 75 and 100 yards. This range is fully accessible to disabled visitors. Three of the five shooting tables are under a shelter. Visitors from the Cassidy Bridge Hunt Camp can reach the range in only ten minutes. It is an easy place to practice target shooting while staying at the camp.

Surrounding Area: Rich Mountain Road, a scenic Forest Service road, is a pleasant drive nearby. The stocked Chauga River is close by and provides a place to park and fish.

General Information

Best practices for using the rifle range:

  • Keep the rifle range free of litter.
  • Only stationary paper or manufactured targets mounted on self-provided stands or holders. Using bottles, cans, pumpkins, watermelons etc. or other trash as targets is prohibited.
  • Targets and target holders must be positioned at the base of the berm, to catch all bullets and eliminate the chance of ricochet.
  • Use eye and ear protection.
  • Follow the four rules of gun safety:
    • Treat all guns as if they are loaded
    • Control your muzzle: Keep your firearm pointed in a safe direction
    • Be sure of your target and what is beyond.
    • Keep your finger outside of the trigger guard until you are ready to shoot.

All year

Cedar Creek is open Thursday-Sunday (from sunrise to sunset). **Closed Monday-Wednesday.** Volunteers clean on various days.  The public is welcome to call the Andrew Pickens Ranger District at (864) 638-9568 to inquire about current conditions.

  • Refer to the Forest Supervisor's orders for prohibited actions on all rifle ranges on the forest.
  • Tracer or Incendiary ammunition or exploding targets is prohibited.
  • Pack it in, pack it out. Shooters are responsible for own cleanup of all bullet casings, target and target holder, litter-trash.
