Ojibway and Triangle Lakes
Ojibway Lake offers a small picnic area, a back down ramp, and 2 island back country campsites. The lake contains crystal clear waters and a variety of fish, including lake trout, walleye, bass and northern pike.
Access to Triangle Lake is a short roller portage between Ojibway Lake and Triangle Lake. Triangle Lake also has 2 island back country campsites and fish including walleye, bass, and northern pike.
Lakes nearby include: Tofte Lake, Glacier Pond 1 and Glacier Pond 2.
General Information
Dispersed Camping
There are 2 back country campsites on Ojibway Lake and 2 sites on Triangle Lake. All sites are accessible by water only.
Please use facilities provided such as fire rings, tent pads, and latrines and pack out garbage.
Open 24 hours/day
Permits not required to travel or camp on Ojibway or Triangle Lakes. Permits are required year-round when entering the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, including North Kasishiwi River accessed by a portage on the southern shore of Triangle Lake. Free self-issue permits can be used for day use.
No fees are required for this site
Dogs are allowed at campsites and developed recreation areas; however, they should not be allowed to run loose in recreation areas where they will disturb other forest visitors. Be mindful of the impact a barking dog can have on other forest visitors.
- Keep dogs on a six-foot, or shorter, leash when they are not inside an enclosed vehicle or tent.
- Store dog food in bear-resistant containers and feed your pet away from the campsite.
- Pick up and bag your dog’s waste. Place it in a provided trash receptacle or pack it out.
- Do not leave your dog unattended at any time.
- Do not leave your dog in the vehicle on a hot day.
- Keep your dog in your tent or vehicle at night.
- Ensure that there is ample water available for your pet.

Directions
Ojibway and Triangle Lakes are 14 miles northeast of Ely.
- From Ely, take State Highway # 169 (Fernberg Road #18) east for 14 miles to Forest Road 1540.
- Turn right on Forest Road 1540 and travel 1/2 mile to the Ojibway Lake access.
- Triangle Lake is located across the lake and directly south of Ojibway Lake.
