Lake Vesuvius Picnic Areas - Roadside Shelter

This day use picnic shelter has a 125 person capacity. It is located along the road near the historic Vesuvius Furnace and Lake Vesuvius Dam. The shelter is equipped with water, grills, and picnic tables. It is close to hiking trails. There is no electricity at this shelter.

General Information

The picnic shelter is available by reservation. To make the reservation call toll-free NRRS at 1-877-444-6777. (NRRS charges a reservation fee.) If not reserved shelters may be used first come first serve at $50/day.

Getting There

Directions

Located 6.5 miles north of Ironton, Ohio, just off State Route 93. Turn on County Road 29 and follow the signs to the Recreation Area (1 mile). The shelterhouse is just past the main entrance to the recreation area on the left just past the lake. You will have gone past the furnace, the other picnic area and you'll see a parking lot and the Roadside shelter on the left.
