The Inyo National Forest has several 14,000 foot peaks that are non-technical "climbs". Mt. Whitney, White Mtn Peak and Mt. Williamson are three of the most popular "14ers" that can be bagged by a strenuous hike rather than technical climbing.
For specific peaks visitors are urged to search the internet for the specific peak names as this site will not be devleoped to that detailed level.
Camping, fishing, hiking and backpacking draw many visitors to the Big Pine Creek Area every year. Beautiful First Falls is a short walk from the picnic area. Longer hikes up the north fork trail leads to glacier fed lakes, First through Seventh lakes and great views into the Palisade Glacier Basin. Overnight stays in the John Muir Wilderness require a wilderness permit.
