Reopening of Library at Grey Towers NHS
Ceiling Restoration
Milford PA, November 2, 2023 – Grey Towers National Historic Site is happy to announce the reopening of the historic library. The library was closed for ceiling restoration to safeguard, and conserve the integrity of the library for future generations. Our ticketed guided tour will feature the Great Hall, Library and Sitting Room as well as the gardens area in the historic core (weather permitting).
Visitors on tours can also enjoy two new exhibits/displays. The Kennedy exhibit is adjacent to the Great Hall and highlights the 60-year anniversary of President John F Kennedy’s visit to dedicate Grey Towers to the US Forest Service. A second new display is in the Sitting Room and highlights two small hand-carved wooden skulls that were part of the original Pinchot collection. They pay homage to Gifford and Amos’ membership in the secret society at Yale known as the Skull & Bones Society.
Site restoration is vital in maintaining our building and grounds for future generations to enjoy. For additional information please check www.fs.usda.gov/greytowers.
