Ranger District Locations

To facilitate management, the forest is divided into four ranger districts: Gasquet, Orleans, Lower Trinity and Mad River. The Smith River National Recreation Area makes up most of the Gasquet District. The forest also manages the 212-acre Humboldt Nursery in McKinleyville, California. The Yurok Experimental Forest, comprising approximately 1,000 acres, is included in the total acreage of the Six Rivers National Forest, but is administered by the Pacific Southwest Forest and Range Experiment Station.

1. Head EAST on Bayshore until it ends at US-101
2. Turn LEFT onto US-101 heading NORTH.
3. Take the US-199 ramp towards I-5/GRANTS PASS.
4. Merge onto US-199 N. and continue 14.5 miles; office/visitor center is on left (north) side of road.

2. Turn LEFT onto US-101 heading NORTH about 10 miles.
3. Take the CA-299 exit towards WEAVERVILLE/REDDING.
4. Merge onto CA-299 E. and continue for about 38 miles.
5. Turn LEFT onto CA-96/BIGFOOT SCENIC HWY and continue on for .25 miles.
