Forest Product Permits

Permits are required to remove forest products such as firewood, rocks and minerals, transplants and decorative wood.


  • Firewood Permits

    You may purchase permits to harvest up to 10 cords of firewood for personal use. 

    Check in with the Ranger District that manages the area where you plan to cut, and make sure to pick up a free Motor Vehicle Use Map. These maps show dates roads and trails are open to motorized travel and specifications for vehicle use.

  • Christmas Tree Permits

    Christmas tree permits are available seasonally beginning in mid-November. 4th graders are eligible to receive a free Christmas tree permit!

    Personal use permits for mushrooms, transplants and decorative wood are available at Ranger District Offices. Contact your local office for site-specific harvest regulations.
