DecksRail/TrailRail/trail bridges are former railroad bridges converted to trail use. Decks may be totally or partially reconstructed because of material deterioration, or may be modified to accommodate the new users. Most railroad bridge decks are sawn timber, or rock ballast supported in timber or concrete deck units. Reconstructed trail bridges can use the ballast as the deck surface, or replace the deck with timber or concrete. BallastAdditional Pictures:
