Maureen
Kestler joined SDTDC in 2006 as a civil engineer. She started her career at
the White Mountain National Forest before transferring
to the U.S. Army Cold Regions Research and
Engineering Laboratory, where she worked for 13
years. Maureen's primary responsibilities there were
to conduct pavement research and acquire funding
for a team of researchers. In 2001, she returned to
the Forest Service as a geotechnical engineer for the
Eastern Region's Technical Services Team. Maureen
has two bachelor's degrees from the University
of New Hampshire, a master's degree from the
Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and is a Ph.D.
candidate at Purdue University.
Sydney
Bacon started at MTDC as a temporary employee at the front desk in August 2007.
In December, she became a biological scientist career
intern. Syd worked for the Lolo National Forest as
the assistant to the forest archeologist while pursuing
her master's degree in forensic anthropology at the
University of Montana, where she also received her
bachelor's degree in archeology.
Sam Wu joined SDTDC in June 2007 and serves as
the project leader for fire specifications and standards.
Sam also has worked as a mechanical engineer in
Houston, TX, for a private engineering firm and
served in Guinea, West Africa, as a Peace Corps
volunteer. He has a bachelor's degree in mechanical
engineering from the University of California at
Berkeley.
