The San Dimas Technology and Development Center
(SDTDC) has developed EM7700–30 "Guidelines for Engineering Analysis
of Motorized Mixed Use on National Forest
System Roads" and conducted training sessions that included other topics
for engineers who
are becoming qualified in motorized mixed use analysis.
Training conducted for Forest Service regional transportation engineers in November 2007 at Columbus, OH, was videotaped and distributed on DVDs for training and certification of qualified engineers. The course was designed to allow students to view the 12 sessions (30 to 70 minutes each) as their schedule permits. Topics included sessions on directives, liability issues, State laws, engineering judgment, qualified engineer requirements, road management, signing, conducting motorized mixed use analysis, and mitigation measures.
