Volunteering

Red River Gorge Trail CrewVolunteers play an important role on the Daniel Boone National Forest. They help to accomplish work and projects that otherwise would not be done. Some volunteer projects are trail maintenance, hosting a campground, photography, assisting resource managers, and monitoring bald eagles.

If you are interested in serving as a volunteer, check out the opportunities available by District:

Volunteer Guide View the Volunteer Guide for more information.

After reviewing the projects, decide which one suits your interests. As a volunteer, you determine when and where you'll work and the type of jobs you'll perform.

Next, email or call the contact person responsible for coordinating the project work. Ask lots of questions to make sure it’s an opportunity you will enjoy. If you are selected as a volunteer, some paperwork is required. All volunteers must submit to a background investigation.

If you want to volunteer, complete and send in these forms to the district volunteer coordinator.
