| Title: |
Berea Water Laboratory Studies
|
| Objective: |
To monitor rainfall, streamflow and chemical composition of
water from several sites in Kentucky. |
| Year Established: |
1969 |
| Year Completed: |
1989 |
| Site Description: |
Daniel Boone National Forest, Kentucky |
| Statistical Design: |
A total of 20 areas were monitored using flumes. Most areas
had a single flume site. |
| Likelihood of Locating Study Areas: |
60% |
| Experimental Treatments: |
varies |
| Sampling Methods: |
Streamflow was measured continuously using flumes. rainfall
was measured continuously using a tipover bucket. |
| Variables and Sampling Frequency: |
rainfall, streamflow, chemical analysis (heavy metal, pH). |
| QA/QC Practices: |
Field equipment was frequently checked and calibrated. Data
was carefully entered into computer and backed up. |
| Data Storage: |
Data are on Compaq PC in binary format and are backed up onto
floppies. Separate programs are used to analyze the data and
are also backed up onto floppies. |
| Global Change Research Applications: |
Studies of Ecosystem Processes
Landscape Scale Studies |
