We are selecting
intensive research sites that are already part of the NAWQA program
in order to build on their foundation monitoring network.
We are also seeking sites with
Federal or State involvement in management. 1. Neversink River Basin in the Catskills, an indicator site for the New York City water supply, is the first intensive monitoring and research area enhanced with this initiative. 2. Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area (including its entire drainage basin), managed by the NPS, where water quality is impacted by fragmentation outside Federal boundaries. 3. French Creek State Park (including its
entire watershed), in Eastern Pennsylvania, where land use change
and air pollution are factors affecting forests and water supplies.
