Description: |
Monardella odoratissima, or coyote mint belongs to the mint
family (Lamiaceae, a.k.a. Labiatae) from which come potent-smelling herbs
like mint, sage, rosemary, and thyme. Odoratissima means, in Latin, highly scented, and this plant has a particularly strong but pleasant minty scent, especially when one brushes up against the leaves. The orange butterfly is common on the Modoc in summer. |
