The Forest Service is considering amending its land management plans to address new and evolving issues arising since implementing sage-grouse plans in 2015. This project is in cooperation with the USDI Bureau of Land Management.

This proposal would authorize a 5-year special use permit to Caldera Snow Coach Tours to operate snow coach and cross-country ski tours on existing groomed snowmobile trails during the winter seasons.

Crow Creek Pipeline Project Lower Valley Energy SEIS
Construct a fifty mile, eight inch natural gas pipeline between Bear Lake County and Afton, Wyoming. Approximately 20 miles of this pipeline would be on Forest Service lands.

RC2 Mink Creek Fiber Project
The Montpelier Ranger District proposes to authorize a request from Direct Communications to issue a special use permit to install two 1.25-inch conduits along the north side of Highway 36/Mink Creek Road, from Liberty to Preston, Idaho.

Targhee National Forest Lynx Analysis Units
Utilize existing protocols and data to establish Lynx Analysis Units (LAUs) on the Targhee portion of the Forest. The LAUs and identified lynx habitat will be subject to the Northern Rockies Lynx Management Direction.

Boundary Trail Improvements
The project proposes to reroute sections of the Boundary Trail (Forest Service Trail 272) to create a more sustainable trail and prevent resource damage.

Buffalo TSI
The project would precommercially thin ~3900 acs to reduce/prolong the overall susceptibility to mountain pine beetle attacks & crown fires in previously harvested areas. The project would also provide for a variety of products now & in the future.

To improve the health and resiliency of vegetation communities and habitats in fire-dependent ecosystems across the portion of the Caribou-Targhee National Forest covered by the Caribou Revised Forest Plan.

Crestline Trailhead Relocation
The proposed action is to obliterate the current Crestline Trailhead and quarter mile access road, Forest Road 333. The trailhead would be re-constructed in a new location immediately adjacent to Forest Road 001 (Scout Mountain Road.

The Caribou-Targhee National Forest (CTNF) is seeking comments on a proposal to improve 0.8 miles of Diamond Creek below Stewart Canyon. Project is roughly 20 miles due east of Soda Springs Idaho.

Eastside Trailhead Improvements
Relocate trailheads or perform heavy maintenance at the Bear Gulch, Coal Mine, Pete Creek & Trail Creek trailheads to improve safety and reduce erosion/ sediment loading to streams. Expand surface area and add barriers if needed.

Freeman Ridge/Husky 2 Exploration Plan
Exploration Drilling of 967 holes to gather information about phosphate reserves on portions of two Federal Phosphate Leases and three off lease areas. Overall disturbance is 168.0 acres.

The Forest Service is proposing to approve a proposal from Itafos Conda LLC to construct three run-on control ditches with culverts on the Caribou-Targhee National Forest adjacent to the boundary of the Husky1/North Dry Ridge phosphate mine

Island Park Office Conveyance
Dispose of the Island Park office with approximately 2 acrs of land as outlined in the Facilities Realignment and Enhancement Act of 2005. Also dispose of all housing, associated garages, outbuildings, and an abandoned sewage lagoon.

Jordan Canyon Hazardous Fuels Reduction Project
The proposal is to treat up to 490 acres within the project area. Treatments proposed to reduce hazardous fuels include commercial timber sale, non-commercial thinning treatments, and prescribed fire with hand/aerial ignition (broadcast and piles).

Lake Canyon Trail (FS#206) Project
Reroute approx. 3/10 of a mile at head of canyon putting it on a grade of 5 to 10%. Close and rehab old segment to eliminate eroding section of trail. Reroute 2/10 of a mile at mid trail to eliminate rock hazards.

A variety of low impact vegetation treatments (such as hand thinning) designed to remove sub-dominate conifers in existing aspen stands. Goal is to improve aspen stands by stimulating regeneration and subsequently improve wildlife habitat.

Proposed Targhee Revised Forest Plan Amendment
Proposes to amend the 1997 Revised Forest Plan for the Targhee portion of the Forest to address direction for "old-growth" and "late-seral" forested vegetation, snags and wildlife habitat for select cavity-nesting species.

Rainey Creek Vegetation Restoration Project
Use prescribed fire and mechanical thinning to improve the vegetative/brush diversity and resilience within juniper and mountain mahogany. Reduce hazardous fuels adjacent to private property and along the Rainey Creek road for public safety.

West Curlew Reservoir Access Road
The project proposes to connect Forest Service Road 011 (Bagget Bridge Road) to Forest Service Road 084 as a means of access to Stone Reservoir by crossing Delmore Ditch at an established culvert.

West Piney Organization Camp Parking Lot and Trail Reroute
This project would designate and expand an exclusive parking lot for West Piney Camp, relocate the current public parking lot and trail head for FS trail 078 to the trailer parking lot, and reroute FS trail 078 to the newly established trail head.
