SEAFOAM ROAD WORK (FOREST ROAD #008)

Release Date: June 11th, 2025
Contact Information: Amy Baumer    SM.FS.scnfinfo@usda.gov

Traffic along Seafoam Road (road #008) is currently being impacted by an ongoing road improvement project. Motorists can expect 30-minute delays on Seafoam Road #008 on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The public will be notified when work is completed and there will no longer be delays. Work is expected to last through June. Over seven miles of the road is being reconditioned and almost four miles of the road will be resurfaced with new surface rock.

In 2023 and 2024, the Forest Service performed the first phase of this road project.  The Seafoam portion of this phase involved various road improvements; replacing and cleaning culverts, constructing road widenings along narrow winding portions of the road for turnouts and better sight distance, over 10 miles of roadway reconditioning, and almost nine miles of roadbed reconditioning.

The Salmon-Challis National Forest appreciates the public’s patience and understanding the short-term inconvenience this project will cause.
