Cave Run Lake Prohibitions
The following acts are prohibited:
- Motorized use of the White Sulphur OHV Trail from sunset to sunrise from May 1 to November 30;
- Non-motorized use of the White Sulphur OHV Trail from May 1 to November 30;
- Camping within 300 feet of NFSR 918 in the Pioneer Weapons Wildlife Management Area. Camping at designated sites is exempt;
- Overnight camping within 300 feet of the edge of the White Sulphur OHV Trail from May 1 to November 30;
- Use of the White Sulphur OHV Trail trailhead parking area after 10:00 pm Eastern time;
- Discharging a firearm in the Cave Run Lake area and Shallow Flats Wildlife Viewing Area;
- Hunting in the Cave Run Lake area;
- Hunting and trapping in the Cave Run Lake area and Shallow Flats Wildlife Viewing Area.

Forest Order
Pursuant to the provisions of 16 U.S.C., Section 551, and Subpart B in Title 36 C.F.R. 261 as listed below, to provide for visitor safety, I am prohibiting the following acts:
Location: The portions of National Forest System lands containing Cave Run Lake within the Daniel Boone National Forest in Bath, Menifee, Morgan, and Rowan Counties in Kentucky. The area is further described in the attached map.
Effective Date: This Closure Order is in effect February 24, 2015 and continues until rescinded.
Prohibited Acts:
- Motorized use of the White Sulphur OHV Trail from sunset to sunrise from May 1st to November 30th (§261.55(a));
- Non-motorized use of the White Sulphur OHV Trail from May 1st to November 30th (§261.55(b));
- Camping within 300 feet of NFSR 918 in the Pioneer Weapons Wildlife Management Area. Camping at designated sites is exempt (§261.58(e));
- Overnight camping within 300 feet of the edge of the White Sulphur OHV Trail from May 1st to November 30th (§261.58(e));
- Use of the White Sulphur OHV Trail trailhead parking area after 10:00 pm Eastern time (§261.58(g));
- Discharging a firearm in the described area (Cave Run Lake and Shallow Flats Wildlife Viewing Area (§261.58(m));
- Hunting in the described area (Cave Run Lake) (§261.58(v));
- Hunting and trapping in the described area (Cave Run Lake and Shallow Flats Wildlife Viewing Area (§261.58(v)).
Pursuant to 36 C.F.R. 261.50(e), the following persons are exempt from this Order:
- Any Federal, State or Local Officer, or member of an organized rescue or firefighting force engaged in the performance of an official duty;
- Any authorized person engaged in official administrative duties regarding National Forest Administration;
- Persons with a permit specifically authorizing the otherwise prohibited act or omission.
These prohibitions are in addition to the general prohibitions in 36 CFR Part 261, Subpart A.

Violations of the above prohibition set forth are punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000 for an individual and $10,000 for an organization or imprisonment for not more than six (6) months or both. See 16 U.S.C. 551, 18 U.S.C. 3559 and 3571.
